Book Review #1 : The Fault in Our Stars ♥

Warning: This post contains images from the movie.

Even thinking about this book makes me tear up. [Pull yourself together Catherine] ..ANYWAY, this book is absolutely remarkable as it is the first book to make me cry. I never really understood the reason why people became so emotionally attached to characters in books or so affected by the story line..until I read this. Now I feel like part of the gang, one of those people who fall in love with the story line, the characters, everything. Soppy I know.

TFIOS is centred around Hazel Grace Lancaster, a terminally ill teenager, suffering with cancer. After attending a support group, she meets  gorgeous  Augustus Waters, a teenager in remission after suffering from Cancer. Their relationship develops over the course of the book, and although the sense of humour is entertaining, it is also burdened with sadness.

“As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once.

Not only is the book pretty amazing, the film is also the best I've seen in years. Any movie that makes me cry hysterically as if I was in the movie deserves an A+.. I mean, who runs out of a whole pack of tissues within 40 minutes..Yes, that's how long I cried for.

I guess this movie thought me the meaning of life, not in a soppy way, but more so to appreciate the time you're alive. Appreciate the people you meet, either good or bad, they are in your life for a reason. The movie quotes are still roaming around in my head and I often find myself reciting quotes now and again. Ugh, I'm so sad.

Some of my favourite quotes

“Oh, I wouldn’t mind, Hazel Grace. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.”

“I’m in love with you, and I’m not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things.”

“I will not tell you our love story, because—like all real love stories—it will die with us, as it should.”

“Only now that I loved a grenade did I understand the foolishness of trying to save others from my own impending fragmentation: I couldn’t unlove Augustus Waters. And I didn’t want to.”

So, for all of you who have read the book, watched the film or both, then let me know what you thought of it.

Quote of the week #1

Firstly, I want to say how damn good it is to be writing a post again. It feels like forever ago since I even pressed that 'Publish' button and here I am, writing my first post in 6 months.

I think both my blog and myself have changed in the past 6 months. I've been to hell with exams, stressing out and studying until the early hours of the morning (Sorry Mum). So, after finally finishing my exams on Friday *horray* , my first thought was to get back blogging. While my blog started out as a solely beauty blog, I think I have realised that beauty is not everything and there are other topics I would like to write about. What is strange for me is that after obsessing over beauty blogs for so long, it hit me that there is more to life than cosmetics. Strange huh?...or maybe not.

So finally, I have decided to start a little series of posts titled 'Quote of the week' which, I apologise, does sound a little cringy, but quotes are just my thangg. I'm a firm believer that you can find a quote on either instagram or pinterest that will relate to anything your experiencing in life. I guess thats what I find comfort in.

It's the weirdest yet most amazing feeling to listen to music when your feeling ecstatic or even down in the dumps. There is a song out there that will instantly lift your mood and athough I hate to admit, there are those that will send you into the depths of despair (dramatic I know).

I hope you've all had a wonderful week, and enjoy this post.

Let me know if your a 'Quotes junkie' like me in the comments below or if you have absolutely no interest in them, I'd love to know!
